Simple Present Tense

Contoh :

Present Continuous Tense

Penjelasan Singkat

Tense ini untuk membicarakan aksi yang sedang berlangsung sekarang atau rencana dimasa depan.

Contoh :

1.      He is cleaning the house now

2.      It is raining now         

3.      We are waiting to Helen

4.      Bill is typing an invoice

5.      They are talking about you

6.      He is going to the office        

7.      David is looking for a job       

Simple Past Tense

Penjelasan Singkat

Tense ini untuk menunjukkan bahwa suatu kejadian terjadi dimasa lampau.

Contoh :

1. They went to Tokyo last month
2. She went home two minutes ago
3. I did not see her standing there
4. My Father did not buy this car last year
5. They did not go to Tokyo last month
6. She did not go home two minutes ago
7. Did My Father buy this car last year ?

Past Continuous Tense

Penjelasan Singkat

Tense ini digunakan untuk mengungkapkan bahwa suatu aksi sedang terjadi pada waktu tertentu dimasa lampau.

Contoh :

1. I was working at 10pm last night.
2. They were not playing football at 9am this morning.
3. What were you doing at 10pm last night?
4. What were you doing when he arrived?
5. She was cooking when I telephoned her.
6. We were having dinner when it started to rain.
7. Ram went home early because it was snowing.

Present Perfect Tense

Penjelasan Singkat

Tense ini digunakan untuk mengungkapkan suatu aktivitas atau situasi yang telah dimulai di masa lalu dan telah selesai pada suatu titik waktu tertentu di masa lalu atau masih berlanjut sampai sekarang.

Contoh :

1.      I have been there

2.      He has been here

3.      They have been at home

4.      We have been to London

5.      I have learned the poem

6.      He has cleaned house

7.      She has finished the homework

Present Perfect Continuous Tense

Penjelasan Singkat

Tense ini untuk mengungkapkan aksi yang telah selesai pada suatu titik dimasa lampau atau aksi telah dimulai dimasa lalu dan terus berlanjut sampai sekarang.

Contoh :

1.      She has finished the homework

2.      She has been reading for three hours

3.      Tom has been waiting for Susan since seven o’clock

4.      Jack has been digging the garden for two hours

5.      The children have been playing for a long time

6.      We have been talking most of the time

7.      Peter has been studying chemistry for more than a year

Past Perfect Tense

Penjelasan Singkat

Tense ini untuk menyatakan bahwa suatu aksi telah selesai pada suatu titik di masa lalu sebelum aksi lainnya terjadi.

Contoh :

1.     He had cleaned the house

2.     The sun had risen before I awoke

3.     The rain had stopped when I left

4.     John said he had seen a ghost

5.     Bob said he had met Mr Robin

6.     Bill said he had written a poem

7.     When I had finished the book, I put it down

Past Perfect Continuous Tense

Penjelasan Singkat

Tense ini digunakan untuk mengungkapkan suatu aksi (dengan durasi waktu tertentu) telah selesai pada suatu titik waktu tertentu dimasa lalu.

Contoh :

1.      He had been cleaning the house

2.      Roger had been studying art for a long time

3.      Bob said that he had been playing tennis with George

4.      Jack had been working for five hours when the clock struck one

5.      When they arrived, the rain had been falling for several minutes

6.      Before Harry married, he had been living in Texas

7. Peter told me he had been learning Russian for two years
